Billionaire Avi Silver, co-founder of United Petroleum, is selling his Mermaid Beach property.
The boss of one of Australia’s biggest petrol chains is taking his luxury Queensland beachfront mansion to auction.
Billionaire Avi Silver, co-founder of United Petroleum, has put his Gold Coast property on the market, 15 years after he bought it.
The home has some serious street appeal.

Real estate records reveal the Mermaid Beach property, which changed hands in 2011 for $7.7m, is owned by Parkdon Pty Ltd, a company associated with Avi Silver.
Mr Silver is understood to be based in Melbourne.
His five-bedroom seven-bathroom home — used as his secondary residence — is built across four levels on a 532sq m corner block at 199 Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach.
Hedges Ave is a prime location for Australia’s wealthy with Mr Silver’s neighbours including pub baron Bruce Mathieson, Highgrove Bathrooms boss Lindsay Sinclair, entrepreneur Clive Palmer.

Inside the home.
Michael Kollosche and Ryan Ward, of Kollosche, are marketing the property and described it as an “iconic” estate on the “Gold Coast’s most coveted street”.
“This is the ultimate location and lifestyle,” Mr Kollosche said.
“The home presents really well but the vendor is just not using it, that’s the main reason they thought they would sell it.”
The home is on a corner block in popular Mermaid Beach.
The home is spread over four levels.
The house has a striking street presence thanks to custom laser-cut aluminium external screens.
Inside, there are herringbone timber floors, lavish marble, and designer lighting.
Standout features include two kitchens, a cinema, rooftop entertaining area, gym, lift, games lounge, teppanyaki plate and direct access to the beach.
“It’s a very well built home,” Mr Kollosche said.
“It’s a solid concrete home on a 532sq m block which is a third bigger than the standard size there.
“That is quite a significant difference when you’re on these blocks.”

Mermaid Beach is one of the most expensive suburbs on the Gold Coast with a median house value of $3.295m.
The suburb has recorded considerable growth over the years with new houses, an energised cafe and restaurant scene, and the light rail extension set to change the locale once more.
“The market there has been extremely tightly held with very few homes available on Hedges and Albatross avenues,” Mr Kollosche said.
“We’re seeing that more and more as the buyer profile becomes owner occupiers — properties there are just not coming up for sale.
“It’s getting harder and harder to match homes with buyers.”
