Actor Rebel Wilson has joined the ranks of high-profile Sydneysiders who cashed out of their property investments this year, with transaction records revealing just how much she pocketed.

The Pitch Perfect star had sold an investment in Balmain in September, but the price was not disclosed at the time.

With settlement now concluded, records can reveal the sale price was $2.15m, netting Wilson a $270,000 gross windfall off the sale from 10 years of ownership.

It is understood Wilson gave the 130sqm unit a high-end renovation after buying the property in 2015 and it is not known if she made a profit off the sale once factoring in taxes and other expenses.

Wilson had lived in the apartment while renovating her former three-level Birchgrove waterfront property overlooking the Parramatta River, which she sold for $9.5m in 2022.

The Hollywood actor had snapped up the two-bedroom apartment off the plan a decade ago for $1.88m, with rental records showing the most recent advertised rent was $1,200 per week.

The kitchen has Carrara quartz stone, Miele appliances, an induction hob, an integrated Liebherr fridge and a breakfast bar.

Set in an old soap factory converted into residences, the apartment features views over the city skyline and Anzac Bridge.

The price guide was $2m, which was down on the $2.3m expectations when the top-floor two-bedroom unit was initially listed in May last year.

Wilson and her family have made an array of property purchases over the years, especially in the Balmain and Birchgrove area of Sydney’s inner west.

The actor retains a Birchgrove property bought for $3.6m.

Her mother, Sue Bownds, also owns at Birchgrove, having paid $1.6m in 2020 after selling at Kellyville for $1,318,000.

The Hollywood actor’s 2024 memoir, Rebel Rising, revealed her schoolteacher mother and late father, bank officer Warwick, had bought in the area for $52,000 in 1978, but sold up for $95,000 two years later after concerns about lead paint on the walls.

Wilson has also sold in Los Angeles, pocketing $5.6m late last year for a house she had used to create social media content.

The LA sale coincided with her tying the knot with partner Ramona Agruma.

She told the Wall Street Journal she sold the home to “streamline” her life.

“It’s such a good house,” she said, explaining she planned to downsize to a different home.

The Pitch Perfect star still made a near million-dollar upside on the property, having bought it for around $4.4m (US$2,95m) in 2016.
