The home at 145 Elizabeth St, Geelong West, is listed for sale following an extensive renovation.
Owners of a Geelong West home are set to walk away after added up to $500,000 to its value through an extensive renovation just seven months after they purchased it.
Homeowners David Field and Kathryn Williamson said they’d taken a year off when they tackled the project, turning an old weatherboard house into a charming contemporary residence with two living areas, or four bedrooms.
The updated home at 145 Elizabeth St, Geelong West, hit the market this week with price expectations from $1.195m to $1.295m.

The original home had previously been used as a rental property and sold for $774,000 last June, records show.
The renovation maintains the home’s existing footprint, but involved remodelling the internal layout, swapping bedrooms and living areas, replacing the kitchen, creating an ensuite and new main bathroom and laundry.
“We bought a very rundown, old weatherboard house that really could have been knocked down by modern standards,” Ms Williamson said.

After: The kitchen features curved fluted joinery, shaker style cabinets and a Smeg freestanding stove.
“We have friends in the area and we’ve downsized since our kids moved out. We just loved the area and thought we’d give this house a bit of life.
“And to bring it into the modern era. It’s a very comfortable home now.”
Plantation shutters and statement front door complement the classic weatherboard facade.
The light contemporary interiors combines modern flooring and warm neutral accents.
A formal lounge at the front could be used as a fourth bedroom, but the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area connects with a covered outdoor area at the back.
The lounge room was originally at the front of the house.
It has been moved to an open-plan configuration adjoining the kitchen at the rear of the house.
And replaced with an additional bedroom, pictured, and formal lounge room.
The kitchen has stone benchtops and splashbacks, a Smeg freestanding cooker, a dishwasher, curved fluted joinery, shaker style cabinetry with brass handles and tapware, a skylight and cylinder downlights.
Luxury is also instilled in the bedrooms and bathrooms through generous wardrobes and a dual stone-topped ensuite vanity, LED mirrors and frameless glass walk-in shower, and a fluted freestanding tub in the main bathroom.
The couple said they’d thought hard about selling, but were looking for another property in the area with more space, and perhaps even a pool.
A fully tiled ensuite has been added to the main bedroom.
A new central bathroom is added, including a fluted freestanding tub.
“We’ve taken a year off work and we thought this would be nice,” Ms Williamson said.
“We just thought we will move to the area and see how it goes and whether we like it. We’ve been loving it, the people and the energy of Geelong West,” she said.
Mr Field said they’d discovered the joys of living in Geelong West.
“We love this area. And the proximity of places like Pakington St. These are new discoveries for us – we didn’t really know the area until we moved here.
“We felt that we could renovate within the budget that we had to live here,” he said.
“That was the original plan.”
Buxton Newtown agent Max Hardwick has listed the property for auction in February.
Mr Hardwick said the home is likely to attract interest from downsizers, professional couples or young families.
