A big block suburban home has hit the Darwin property market with a two-storey chook pen, a pool and a massive shed. The owners will even throw in a few chooks to get your flock started.

The current owners bought the property at 115 Lind Rd, Johnston, two years ago as a family home.

“We struck it lucky when we got it – it had actually been passed in at auction,” one of the owners said.

“It was great finding a big block in suburbia with a modern home, rather than having to go to somewhere like Bakewell, where they have big blocks but 30-year-old houses.”

The owner said for him, the standout feature of the property was the huge shed.

“My kids race speedway, so the size of the shed has been quite handy for being able to work on the cars as we need to,” he said.

The owner said the home had been great for family living and entertaining.

“It’s got a nice outdoor area, the pool, a shade sail with lights and plenty of room for kids to run around,” he said.

The 918 sqm property sits next to a green belt and has a 8.6m x 10m shed with double roller doors at the front, a single roller door at the back, street frontage and a separate drive way.

The home also has a double lockup garage with internal access.

The main bedroom, with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, is at the front of the house, along with a media room, which could be used as a fifth bedroom.

The three remaining bedrooms have built-in robes while the family bathroom has a separate bath and shower.

There is also a separate toilet and an internal laundry.

The hub of the home is the open plan living, dining and kitchen area, which opens to the outdoor entertaining area and pool through two sets of sliding doors.

There is plenty of outdoor living space.

The modern kitchen has a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and a neutral colour scheme.

Outside, part of the pebblecrete entertaining area is under the roofline while the rest is under a shade cloth, allow for plenty of room to entertain or relax.

Established hedges privately screen the yard and there is plenty of lawn space, gardens, a garden shed, an open bike shed and a cute chook pen.

“There’s three chooks that will go with the house and the two-storey chook pen,” the owner said.

The chook pen and chooks come with the property.

The property sits on a quiet section of Lind Rd and is close to Howard Springs, Palmerston CBD, shops, schools and major roads.

“There’s lots of cycle paths and footpaths around here,” the owner said.

“We walk quite a bit through the WWII (historical site) and the parks.

“We’re only selling as we don’t need a house this big anymore, but we would like to stay in Johnston if we could.”
