Discover a New England-inspired five-bedroom home with breathtaking valley and ocean views at the end of a long driveway on a sprawling Mornington Peninsula property at 231 Red Hill Rd, Red Hill South.
Vendors Brooke and Edward Baker say they were initially attracted to the then-vacant 6070sq m lot’s position, where the home is surrounded by established botanical gardens of hydrangeas, a 150-year-old oak tree, Japanese maples, cherry trees and Boston ivy.
“I was drawn to the site for its incredible location and stunning grand old trees,” Brooke says.
“We bought a vacant site in an incredible location, walking distance to three wineries and incredible restaurants, one of which is hatted.”
Conceived and completed in 2024, Brooke says that the home was largely designed by her talented husband, Edward.
“It was modelled off our love of American architecture, in particular, the Hamptons homes and Patrick Ahearn-style homes,” Brooke explains.
“He is famous for his weatherboard-styled homes with shutters, long driveways, and roof turrets.”

Built in 2024, the custom $6.7m Mornington Peninsula estate replicates classic US Hamptons architecture.
Spanning a 6070sq m lot, the Red Hill South estate faces sweeping valley and ocean views.
Completed in 2024, the five-bedroom mansion includes an inground pool and a vine-draped pergola terrace.
The couple worked with GEM Taylor Constructions, a Mornington Peninsula premium bespoke builder, to bring the vision to life.
Inside the home, 3m-high ceilings and bespoke finishes create a sense of space and what Brooke describes as a “Steven Akhurst feel and inspiration that also blends a modern element”.
“The wine cellar and powder room feature spectacular marble and rich chocolate walls for a moody contemporary outcome,” she says.
The marble-topped kitchen with a butler’s pantry and an English Aga farmhouse sink in an American Olay finish has more of a “shaker style,” says Brooke.
“It lends itself to a classic English style with a farm sink and caterers’ wing,” she explains.
Complementing and flowing from the kitchen is the central, large-scale living and family domain with an open fireplace, which caters to entertaining and the practical needs of families, a feature the couple wanted to integrate into the overall design.

Every bedroom includes its own private ensuite within a dedicated wing designed to isolate teenage noise.
“This property’s layout is exceptional for all types of families, as each bedroom has its own private ensuite, which is incredibly rare to find on the Peninsula,” says Brooke.
“We designed the house so we could always have separation from the kids/teenagers, and they also had privacy from us. The house has a teenagers/kids wing that is connected and flows beautifully; however, it feels very separate from the adult communal spaces.”
Heading outside through French doors onto the terrace and vine-draped pergola, the commanding views of the valley and water can be admired.
The underground pool and established gardens enhance the property’s charming, picturesque style.
