This 20-room mansion is in the same neighbourhoood as the Clooneys and has a price tag equivalent to $26m.

The Hollywood star George Clooney now has French citizenship and says he and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, are loving life in their farmhouse in the southern region of Provence.

“Here they don’t take photos of kids,” Clooney, 64, told the French broadcaster RTL.

“There aren’t any paparazzi hidden at the school gates.

“That’s No.1 for us.

“We also have a house in the United States, but our happiest place is on this farm where the kids can have fun.”

Donald Trump has welcomed the news that the US-born star of the Ocean’s series of crime films is now French, saying Clooney featured in “totally mediocre movies”.

And Clooney, critical of Trump in the past, has responded by saying he agreed with the President that “we have to make America great again”, starting with voting against Trump in the November mid-term elections.

The Clooney property, now home to George, Amal and their eight-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, is a 40ha vineyard outside the town of Brignoles, with 1200 olive trees and a vegetable garden that cost $15m (€8.5m).

The Oscar-winner and his wife boast an extensive property portfolio across the globe worth $150m, including a New York condo; a UK mansion and a villa at Lake Como in Italy, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Here are five properties currently for sale in the Brignoles region of France that would allow you to be a neighbour to the Clooneys, including a mega estate, a castle and even a riverside hideway.

1. A grand mansion for $26m

The resort-style pool

This promotional material for this incredible home actually makes reference to living alongside celebrities such as the Clooneys, along with Brad Pitt and George Lucas of Star Wars fame in the spiel.

The 20-room detached house with 11 bedrooms on 8ha, for sale via the local Sotheby’s agency, is described as being in an “ultra exclusive environment” set among century-old trees, lush forests and ancient vineyards with a private lake.

Along with the luxurious main house, with the resort-style pool above, there’s also two apartments and a recently renovated barn, ideal for celebrations, retreats of yoga sessions.

Large panoramic windows allow you to enjoy “breathtaking” sunsets while relaxing by the fire.

2. A castle for $3.5m

The castle was extended in the late 19th century.

For about the price of an inner-city terrace in Sydney or Melbourne, you could live surrounded by stars in the lap of luxury.

This magnificent 18th century château on 7ha, for sale via Agency Daniel Féau Provence, has 17 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

Extended in the late 19th century, the residence offers about 750 sqm of living space on the three floors and is surrounded by centennial trees, has a fountain and three water features.

The chateau is currently divided into four self-contained apartments.

The property is described as having great potential for a tourist-based activity, but alternatively you could use all those bedrooms for your no doubt endless visiting friends and relatives from Down Under.

3. A luxury home for $3m

Chill out like a celebrity by the pool in the same neighbourhood as the Clooneys.

The pool at this five-room luxury home on a 1174sqm block looks amazing.

Listed with Proprietes Privees, it’s described as a “rare find” and in a highly sought after and secluded rural setting.

It’s apparently tastefully built with quality materials and there’s an entrance hall opening onto a bright living room, a dining room with views of the terrace and swimming pool, and a fully equipped separate kitchen.

The large master suite has direct access to the terrace.

But there’s less room for guests — perhaps a good thing — since there are just three bedrooms in total and everyone would be fighting over the one bathroom.

4. A villa for $870k

For the budget-conscious.

For the more budget focused, there are opportunities priced about the level of an apartment in Blacktown or Penrith.

This recently built single-storey villa is in a quiet and popular area and there’s also a pool.

The entrance hall leads to a spacious and bright living room with an open-plan, fully equipped kitchen, a utility room, three bedrooms and a bathroom.

It’s all built on a a 900 sqm block and there’s a terrace with a bioclimatic pergola, veggie patch, garden shed, and a large garage.

It even comes with air-con for those hot French summer days and nights.

5. A riverside hideway for $1.4m

A riverside hideaway.

If you’re after something a bit bigger and with more privacy, you can’t go past this five-bedroom riverside property that’s also reasonably priced.

Back on the market after “a loan refusal”, the home is on 2ha surrounded by vineyards and wineries and bordered by 200 olive trees.

The stone Provencal farmhouse has lots of character, there’s a swimming pool, borehole and outbuildings and the possibility of attaching an additional house.

The ground-level living area features a separate kitchen, dining room and living room.

There are three bedrooms also on the ground level, along with a bathroom and shower room, with a large bedroom on the second floor.

A room in the basement, alongside the cellar and laundry room, could also be converted into a bedroom.

The property is for sale via an independent agent by the hame of Nicole Peyrot.
