Award-winning $7m+ ‘floating’ Red Hill home hits the market

Awarded the Home of the Year at the 2014 HIA Victorian Regional Awards, Marhaba is a floating home offering luxury living on a 1.29ha Mornington Peninsula property.

More than 15 years ago though, 36A Callanans Rd, Red Hill, looked vastly different – a parcel of land that the vendors believed was the setting where they could build their dream home.

“The block of land offered flexibility, allowing us to accommodate all our needs,” the vendors said.

“From the highest point, views of Western Port further added to the attraction.”

Working with Andrew and Sally Bartholomeuz, architects and interior decorators from Saaj Design, the vendors turned that dream into a reality, with the build completed in July 2013.

“The Saaj team was very attentive to our needs and kept us informed at every step,” the vendors said.

“They had a wonderful team with a high level of ingenuity. Together we appointed Brynor as the builder. Sam Norris was the lead builder and was and continues to be interested in the project.”

A Red Hill floating home is offering luxury living on a 1.29ha Mornington Peninsula property.

The house was awarded the Home of the Year at the 2014 HIA Victorian Regional Awards.

The features including the tennis court cement the property’s award-winning status

The home itself is striking, with a modern exterior that embraces its natural surroundings.

“The position of the house high on the block, with the suggestion that it is floating, was very attractive,” the vendors said.

“The choice of colours blended well with the surrounding environment.”

Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows further capture the surrounding bushland and vineyards, while high-quality fixtures, fittings, and materials create a sense of luxury.

“The key features of the house are the open plan with large windows that overlook the block,” the vendors said.

“All fittings as well as the materials used are of the highest quality.

“They were chosen by us and approved by the architects and builder. The quality of the fittings ensured that the house could achieve its potential.”

This potential lends itself to entertaining, say the vendors, with well-considered features designed for this purpose.

“The butler’s pantry offers a complete kitchen where preparation and cooking can be carried out without impeding on the living area,” the vendors explained.

The four-bedroom home has a price guide of $7m to $7.7m.

The indoor-outdoor flow that links the kitchen/dining inside with the outdoor area and outdoor kitchen further adds to this, while additional outdoor features – notably a mosaic plunge pool, two-car garage, work shed, and tennis court – cement the property’s award-winning status.

“The outside areas complement the house. The plunge pool colours blend with the exterior colours,” the vendors said.

Its location is also a drawcard.

“Red Hill is a unique place to live,” the vendors said.

“We are fortunate to live here. The access to the Red Hill Merrick Track is a bonus. It offers a quiet, peaceful living environment.”
