‘Under-utilised’ public land across Sydney earmarked for hundreds of new homes

The NSW government has released 13 plots of “surplus” public land in a bid to create more space for new homes. The Minns Government identified the plots as “under-utilised” in a recent audit and 11 of the properties are eligible for the fast-tracked 10-day planning approval pathways. The government said the 13 plots could be used for at least 298 new homes. One Blacktown property is set aside for social housing and Lands and Property Minister Steve Kamper said the government is “pulling every lever” to deliver housing quickly.
