But neither were this year’s most popular Tasmanian street. Instead, to find Hobart’s hotspot, buyers have to head north of the city to Otago Bay Rd. New realestate.com.au research shows, in the 12 months to August, that property listings in this 3km stretch along the Derwent River attracted an average of 11,300 views. This was just outside the national Top 10; tenth place was secured by Wootoona Tce in SA suburb St Georges with 12,100 views. Property records show that only a few homes sold in Otago Bay Rd over the year. The report required five sales to qualify. No.60 and No.25 Otago Bay Rd both achieved strong results with prices above $1m, records show. But it was a property that did not find a buyer that undoubtedly had an outsized influence over the area’s run to the top of the Tassie popularity chart: Otago Edge.
