The properties, mostly homes, were among several recently listed by councils across South Australia in a bid to recover unpaid rates. But after being scheduled for auction, 11 of the properties in the Port Adelaide Enfield, Renmark Paringa and Elliston council regions were pulled from the market after the owners paid their longstanding debts. Just four properties – including two at Renmark and one each at Lock and Sheringa – will still be auctioned in coming weeks, with the sale proceeds to be used by the relevant councils to recover the money owed. Six other properties – all vacant residential blocks at Carrieton – will be sold by private treaty.
