Renter dispute sparks debate about fines

A renter has revealed the absolutely “bonkers” text message they received from their landlord demanding a $200 fine and the threat of immediate eviction if they failed. The renter, who shares the home with four other people, said the fine was issued for bathroom uncleanliness after another roommate dobbed them into the landlord. Adding further stress to the renter’s situation was the threat that if they refused to pay up then they would have to vacate the property within days. The frustrated renter posted the text message to social media to seek advice on what to do next. “I left to go to the store for about two hours and was in bit of rush in the morning, brushing my hair and left some hair on the side of the bathroom sink,” they said. “Apparently, one of the roommates took a picture and sent it to him while I was gone that morning.
