‘It’s huge’: Tradie says if you hear this, panic

An Aussie plumber has issued an urgent warning for homeowners after discovering a “monster” root clogging up a suburban drain. Queensland tradie Dave McIlroy, from Clear View Plumbing, was called out to a Bayside property near Brisbane after a customer reported “a partially blocked drain”. What started as a routine callout quickly turned into a nightmare when he pulled a 50mm-thick tree root out of the stormwater drain. In a video captured at the scene, Mr McIlroy can be seen hauling metres of thick, tangled root out of the underground pipe. “That root had been growing in the stormwater drain for a long time — it was a monster,” he told Yahoo News Australia. “[It was] about 50mm in diameter. You don’t find them that big as a single root too often.” MORE: ‘Tossers’: Aus tenant’s fury over lawn demand ‘Difficult’: 35yo quits US for Aus then flees ‘No idea’: Woman cops $30k bill, loses home Queensland tradie Dave McIlroy was called out to Bayside property after a customer reported “a partially blocked drain”.
