Chris Brown has been granted another trial after a jury ordered him to pay $18 million ($US12.9 million) in damages to his former housekeeper, Maria Avila, after she was attacked by his dog while at his $8.7 million ($US6 million) California home.Avila was brutally attacked by his 90kg (200 pound) Caucasian shepherd guard dog, Hades, at his Tarzana, California, home in 2020, Realtor reports. After the first trial concluded and the musician, 37, was directed to pay Avila $18.7 million ($US13 million), his legal team filed court documents that claimed that the judge’s decision to allow the jury to hear testimony about his assault on his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, swayed the outcome.“The court conditionally grants a new trial on the issue of damages only,” the new ruling reveals. However, a new trial can be avoided if Avila “agrees to a reduced award of $9.5 million.”MORE: ‘Never wanted it’: Hartnett suddenly quits LA‘Tested me’: Travolta reveals ‘darkness’ at 72Terminator star unrecognisable, sad life at 69Chris Brown has been granted another trial after a jury ordered him to pay $US12.9 million in damages to his former housekeeper, Maria Avila, after she was attacked by his dog.
