The waterfront Brighton home of former JB Hi Fi boss Richard Bouris and wife Alison has been sold for a jaw-dropping sum north of $25m.

The pair’s daughter Michelle Greene has followed her father’s retail success, and is co-founder of Bec Judd’s JAGGAD clothing label.

Mr Bouris was part of a trio who bought the business from founder John Barbuto in 1983, just under a decade after Mr Barbuto founded the music and hi-fi equipment specialty store in Keilor East.

They turned it into a national chain before selling their majority stake in the business in 2000, with Mr Bouris acting as joint managing director — and playing a key role in its expansion into the megabrand it has become today.

The retailer remains one of the nation’s most recognised and successful, having reported $10.55bn in sales across the 2025 financial year, according to their latest annual report.

The secretive home sale, done off market by Bayside veteran JP Dixon, has had the Brighton rumour mill in over drive.

Agents and local residents are bandying figures from $25m to $30m for the Shandford Ave property.

Mr Dixon confirmed a sale, but would not discuss the price or any other particulars.

Title documents show the home is in Ms Bouris’ name, with sales records indicating they bought the property for $4.65m in 2005.

The Herald Sun understands the property consists of a three-bedroom floorplan after the residence was replaced following its last sale.

Mr Bouris has made headlines for property sales in the past, collecting $11m from a pair of neighbouring Portsea homes at 16 and 17 Paringa Rd in 2020, plus another $380,000 for a Rye beach box.

His daughter, Michelle Greene wed former Hawthorn footballer Steven Greene, in 2007.

She is also the co-founder of Bec Judd’s fashion label JAGGAD, and currently listed as its creative director.

Records show the property had a planning approval for a $20,000 construction in 2006.
