‘Cry-baby’: Junk mail war erupts in Aussie neighbourhood

2 days ago 7

Junk mail is considered a big nuisance across Aussie neighbourhoods.

An Aussie man has been accused of being a “cry-baby” in a scathing letter he received from a person delivering junk mail to his house.

The man took to Reddit explaining that rather just a “no junk mail” sign, he took it a bit further because he was being bombarded with advertising material.

“Solicitors out of control in my area. So I put a sign up saying ‘we don’t want your solar panels, new windows, or religious pamphlets’,” he wrote on Reddit.

He then shared a picture of a letter received, captioned: “Started with just a sign saying ‘no solicitors’, but most of these dummys can’t read. well the updated one got some hate mail lol. can’t please them all I guess.”

The expletive-ridden letter read:

“Well, my my, aren’t you a pleasant one! Seriously, go f**k yourself.

“Some people scrape by making a living just offering these services you just want to crank about with your entitled ‘don’t contact me’ a**, and you can’t even handle someone contacting you by a piece of paper?

“F**k you and your cry-baby a** sense of entitlement.”

While it entertained a lot of Reddit readers in the comments, junk mail is a serious problem in Australia but not illegal.

There are ways homeowners can try to prevent receiving junk mail in their letterboxes.

According to Australia Post, putting a ‘No Junk Mail’ or ‘Addressed Mail Only’ sign will stop posties from delivering unaddressed mail to your home.

According to the Australia Post website: “Material that is deemed political, educational, religious and charitable is exempt from ‘No Junk Mail’, according to standards developed by the Australian Catalogue Association.”

Here are some other ways to prevent junk mail landing in your mailbox:

* Leave a sign on your letterbox or nearby stating “No Junk Mail”

* Ask businesses to remove your address from receiving material like flyers and catalogues

* Australia Post

* Report any persistent offenders to the Environment Protection Authority for any junk mail breaches

* Add your details to the Do Not Mail Register to reduce the amount of mail sent directly to you
