Brisbane’s housing downturn has stretched into a sixth straight month as higher interest rates and weaker buyer demand continue to weigh on the once-booming market. The latest PropTrack Home Price Index, released Thursday, shows Brisbane home prices fell 0.2 per cent in September, taking the median value to $1.033m. Brisbane home prices have dropped for a sixth straight month. Prices are now 3.9 per cent below their March peak, wiping approximately $42,000 from the value of the typical Brisbane home in just six months. Despite the sustained decline, Brisbane values remain 4.1 per cent higher than a year ago. It marks a dramatic turnaround for a housing market that had previously enjoyed more than three years of almost uninterrupted price growth.
