A Brisbane couple who went for a Saturday morning walk with their children came home owning another property after stumbling across an auction and snapping up the home for $290,000 below its valuation. Property adviser Stefanie Ramsey and her husband had no intention of buying when they arrived on foot as bidding stalled at $900,000. Stefanie Ramsey, with her two children, outside the home she unexpectedly bought in Wooloowin. Ms Ramsey had not even inspected the four-bedroom character home in need of a renovation. But within minutes, the couple had crunched the numbers, registered to bid and secured the home for $1.21m — almost $300,000 less than its valuation — while other would-be buyers remained on the sidelines. “We hadn’t planned to buy at all.
