An Aussie man who sold his entire property portfolio and moved his family to Bali has revealed how he doubled his wealth.
Former property developer Matt Cameron, 47, documents his life in Bali on Instagram and says he has no regrets about packing up and leaving Australia because he is now far better off financially.
Cameron left Australia two years ago after deciding it was time to escape skyrocketing rents and huge Aussie taxes.
He now showcases on social media his life in Bali, which includes a luxury villa and staff comprising chefs, cleaners, a driver and security.
Cameron said the Bali move had doubled his wealth.

“Not by earning more. Not by working harder Not by taking huge risks. But by changing where I invest and how I structure things,” he told his followers.
“I started investing in Bali property where the same money makes three to five times what it was in Australia.
“I set things up properly so I’m not overpaying tax legally and so my investments are actually structured the way wealthy people do it.
“Most people never look outside their own country so they never even realise this is an option.”
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, more than 30,000 Australians left than returned in 2022–23, followed by over 24,000 in 2023–24, the highest net departures in nearly a decade.
Estimates suggest as many as 10,000 Australian live in Bali on a permanent or semipermanent basis.
Cameron offloaded his Australian property portfolio after a business audit showed him exactly how much money was going into maintaining the assets.

Despite spruiking his Bali success, Cameron is honest about the difficult path he took to get there.
Separate Instagram posts detail the huge mistakes he made along the way – mistakes he hopes others can learn from.
“When we moved to Bali we f***ed it up. It cost us months of wasted time and tens of thousands of dollars in mistakes. No one tells you this. We learned the hard way,” Cameron said.
Hurdles Cameron and his family faced included establishing companies properly, getting the correct visas to avoid deportation, hiring the right people to help avoid scams and move money between Australia and Indonesia, finding an expert to help secure the right properties.
Cameron said choosing the right school for his children was also a challenge and it cost him at least $20,000.
“We made almost every mistake you can imagine,” Cameron said.
