Fashion couple Wesley and Eirin Bryett, who founded women’s clothing boutique and fashion line Princess Polly, have sold their Queensland beach house for a record $14.501m under the hammer.

The property, on the Gold Coast, is described as a trophy asset nestled into the hillside of Burleigh Heads National Park with never-to-be-built out views from Burleigh to Surfers Paradise.

Bidding opened at $8m, and after more than 80 bids, the hammer came down with a local buyer securing the keys.

“It was an intense auction,” Mr Murphy said.

“I knew we would have strong interest on it but we just didn’t know where it was going to land.

“It’s very difficult to look at comparable sales — we really needed that feedback from the market.”

The final sale price is the highest price paid for a house in Burleigh Heads.

Mr Murphy declined to comment on the vendors but said the local buyer planned to build a residential home on the block.

“They will make the best out of the site from a residential capacity,” he said.

“This property is genuinely one of one.

“I’m really happy for my sellers and happy for my buyers — I think they have bought something no one else has and no one else can get.”

Property records reveal the Bryetts paid $5.375m for the 8210 sqm block in 2019.

Mr Eoghan also ran the marketing campaign for the property in 2019.

“Back then it was an auction that shook the nation,” he said.

“It was the best auction since the previous cycle which was pre GFC.”

The property includes an existing 1960s five-bedroom home with dual street access and the neighbouring National Park.

Mr Murphy said the luxury market was going from strength to strength on the Gold Coast.

“It’s nice to know that after a marketing campaign with a global outreach, that buyers who are competing for homes like this are locals who love the Gold Coast and see true value in it,” he said.

The previous record house price in Burleigh Heads was $13m, paid for Dune at Mount St.

The highest price paid for an apartment is $25m off-the-plan for an apartment in the Glasshouse project.

PropTrack data reveals the median house price in Burleigh Heads is $1.8875m, up 36.3 per cent over 12 months.

Princess Polly is now owned by US-based Summit Partners, under AKA Brands.

Wes and Eirin Bryett are still co-CEOs of the company — they founded it on the Gold Coast in 2005 before transforming it into a digital offering in 2010.
