Fashion designer Georgina Chapman, co-founder of the luxury brand Marchesa and the ex-wife of Harvey Weinstein, is facing foreclosure on her West Village apartment amid multiple lawsuits tied to her business interests.
According to a foreclosure complaint filed earlier this year, Chapman and her brother, Edward Chapman — Marchesa’s CEO — defaulted on a $US2.5 million ($A3.8 million) mortgage secured against that two-bedroom Manhattan condo, the Real Deal first reported.
The lawsuit, obtained by the New Yost Post, claims the siblings stopped making payments on the loan in November 2024, which carried monthly instalments of more than $US9000 ($A13,800).
The suit says they now owe the full principal along with accrued interest and late fees, which totals $US2.5 million ($A3.8 million), plus interest, late charges and legal fees.

Georgina Chapman purchased the residence in 2009 for $US1.7 million ($A2.6 million) in an all-cash deal, but public records show it was remortgaged twice in recent years, including a 2022 refinancing with Edward.
The building’s condo board also filed a separate lawsuit for more than $US7000 ($A10,700) in unpaid common charges.
The foreclosure is one of several civil actions currently involving Chapman and her company. In September, GFP Real Estate sued Marchesa for more than $US1.4 million ($A2.1 million) in unpaid rent and utilities at 80 Eighth Ave, where the fashion label had occupied the 17th and fourth floors.
Marchesa surrendered the 17th-floor space that same month, and GFP is now seeking to evict the company from the remaining floor and recover damages.
Marchesa has since relocated its operations to a suite on West 26th Street.
A third lawsuit, filed in Kings County Supreme Court by Fiji West Funding LLC, alleges Marchesa and the Chapmans accepted roughly $US300,000 ($A462,000) in merchant cash advance funding but — in June 2025 — subsequently instructed their bank to halt payments, breaching the repayment agreement.
Under the terms, they were expected to repay $US500,000 ($A770,000) in receivables and had granted the lender access to their corporate bank account — including passwords and security answers — to collect daily instalments.

Chapman has not responded publicly to any of the lawsuits, and it’s unclear whether the missed payments reflect inability or strategic delay.
She has 212,000 followers on Instagram and has not posted since June.
None of the parties have responded to The Post’s requests for comment. The foreclosure case remains ongoing in New York Supreme Court.
Founded in 2004 by Chapman and designer Keren Craig, Marchesa quickly rose to prominence through its ornate gowns worn by Hollywood’s elite.
Marchesa has dressed the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, Sandra Bullock and Katy Perry.
Chapman married Weinstein in 2007 and separated from him in 2017, shortly after multiple women came forward with sexual assault allegations, which triggered the #MeToo movement. Their divorce was finalised in 2021, with Chapman reportedly receiving between $US15 million ($A23 million) and $US20 million ($A30 million) in a confidential settlement.

In the years since, however, the brand’s prominence has waned. Craig left the company in 2019.
In March, Puck reported Marchesa faced a growing number of customer complaints about undelivered refunds.
One shopper wrote on the Better Business Bureau website, “I have emailed them and called more than a dozen times with NO RESPONSE!”
Chapman’s current address is unclear. In addition to this West Village apartment, records show she is connected to a unit in Midtown, though public records do not list her as an owner.
She also spends time at Stone Barn Castle, a historic upstate New York estate owned by her partner, the actor Adrien Brody.
According to a Parade interview, the castle is home to Chapman’s two children, her ailing mother, and what Brody described as “a whole menagerie of animals” including “four cats, two donkeys, three horses and a small white dog named Ziggy”.
While Weinstein’s real estate portfolio was dismantled in the wake of his conviction — including the sale of a $US25 million ($A38 million) West Village townhouse, a $US10 million ($A15 million) Hamptons home and a $US16 million ($A38 million) Connecticut estate — Chapman has mostly remained outside public scrutiny.
A court appearance involving the third lawsuit with Fiji West Funding has been set for November 13, 2025. The other cases are currently pending.
