Inside insane Black Rock curved-glass mansion

Curved glass, natural light and sculptural design define this Black Rock residence, created by Jade Ni in collaboration with Parallel Workshop Architects.

A curved-glass home overlooking Half Moon Bay has brought a new sculptural look to one of Black Rock’s most tightly held pockets.

Designed and built by Jade Ni after two decades in the construction industry, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence at 268 Beach Rd was a chance to realise her long-held vision of a white, light-filled house by the sea.

“The dream was always to build something calm and timeless,” Ms Ni said.
“White gives me serenity. from the beginning, I imagined a place where light moves gently through the day, where you can breathe and feel still.”

Created with Parallel Workshop Architects, the design follows the curve of the coastline and has $6.38m-$6.68m price hopes.

The curved facade of glass and white render follows the line of Half Moon Bay, giving the home its unmistakeable Bayside presence.

Italian Terra Rossa marble, smoked American oak and twin Miele ovens anchor a kitchen designed for both precision and warmth.

Six-metre glazing and perforated-steel screens draw the eye from the street, while inside a central void fills the home with natural light.

A sculptural staircase sits at its centre, linking each level and the rooftop terrace above.

Hand-shaped over four months, Ms Ni said it became the defining feature of the build.

“The staircase took months of work, it was insane,” she said.

Each bedroom opens to a private courtyard, maintaining privacy and connection to the outdoors.

The hand-formed staircase took four months to complete, becoming a sculptural centrepiece that draws light through the home’s six-metre void.

“Every curve was shaped by hand. It is the soul of the house.”

Upstairs, the main living zone connects to a glass-framed balcony facing the bay.

The kitchen features Italian Terra Rossa marble paired with smoked American oak veneer and fluted joinery, alongside a butler’s pantry and twin Miele ovens.

A heated, fully automated pool and Finnish sauna create a private retreat framed by glass and leafy courtyards.

Expansive glazing floods the interiors with daylight that changes the home’s hues across the day.

“I love cooking while the sunset reflects off the marble,” Ms Ni said.
“The tones change with the light. It feels warm, not stark, and that was important to me.”

A second living area opens to the terrace and fully automated heated pool, with a Finnish sauna and temperature-controlled wine room nearby.

Each bedroom opens to a private courtyard, while the main suite includes imported stone, a freestanding bath and a walk-in robe styled like a boutique gallery.

Beach Rd is one of Melbourne’s most coveted stretches, lined with architect-designed mansions overlooking Half Moon Bay.

Ms Ni wanted each space to have its own identity while keeping the palette cohesive, soft and filled with light.

“I wanted every space to have its own identity, but stay cohesive, soft and light,” she said.
“It is modern, but it still feels like home.”

The build took about twenty months, extended by the curved plasterwork and detailing that required repeated refinements.

Ms Ni spent most days on site to ensure every element matched her drawings.

“There were long days and challenges,” she said.
“But it was worth it. There is so much of me in this house.”

A quiet study overlooks the bay, combining minimal joinery with calm tones and filtered natural light.

The main suite features imported stone, a freestanding bath and a dressing room styled like a boutique gallery.

Sustainability was built into the design, with a 6.5-star energy rating, solar panels and high-grade insulation reducing running costs.

Automated systems help regulate temperature and light throughout the day.

Located opposite Half Moon Bay and close to the village, the property adds a contemporary edge to a suburb better known for period homes and sea-view apartments.

Crowning the residence is a rooftop terrace with 360-degree views across Port Phillip Bay and the Bayside treetops.

Ms Ni described the project as a personal milestone.

Bathrooms pair imported European tiles with soft lighting and clean lines, echoing the home’s curved architecture.

The main living zone opens to a glass-framed balcony capturing bay views and afternoon sun.

“I have dreamt of a white house by the sea since I was a little girl,” she said.

“This home gave me peace and confidence. It reflects everything I love about the coast.”

The property is listed for sale via expressions of interest closing November 18 at 3pm through Whitefox Bayside’s Lana Samuels and Michael Derham.

A Sex and the City-style wardrobe showcases handbags and heels in glass-fronted cabinetry with leather-clad doors and soft lighting.

The rooftop plunge pool offers 360-degree views across Port Phillip Bay, a rare Bayside vantage made for golden-hour sunsets.
